Describe an average day at Third Republic

Hard-work, challenging and fun!

What is it about recruitment that you enjoy the most?

I enjoy the challenge each day! I can’t imagine being in a role where I am not pushed to succeed. The potential of getting closer to making a deal each day is so motivating.

What is the most interesting part of your job?

For me, it is the business development side. I love having the opportunity to visit client offices in London to see the environment they work in and meet the people you are recruiting for.

What are the challenges of your job?

The challenges that I find in recruitment are the set backs of working with people not products. It is not like selling a tangible product. A challenge I have found is that you can discuss and probe for a candidates main motivations and matching them appropriately, but people can just change their mind last minute. It is definitely a challenge as it is something that is out of your control.

How does this role differ from ones you’ve had in the past?

Recruitment is like nothing I have done before. It’s so motivating coming into work and having the potential to make commission. It is so rewarding each step closer you get to making the deal.

What is your proudest achievement so far?

My proudest achievement in recruitment is having my first client sign the terms of business. It’s a great feeling when the hard work you put in day in and day out to get a job on pays off and a client wants to work with you, having never worked with the company before.
